Experience

Riaan joined Mazars Financial Services Africa 18 months ago and has since led the business to provide CFO Services and Financial Engineering Services to Absa Bank, Hollard, Old Mutual, Sanlam and Standard Bank.

Before joining Mazars, Riaan was a Partner at Deloitte Consulting. He was with Deloitte for 28 years and 20 of which he served as a Partner for the firm, focusing on the audit of banks, insurance companies, stockbrokers, treasuries, private equity businesses, and securitisation vehicles. 
 
He spent two years in the Deloitte New York office specifically dealing with multi-national clients and merger & acquisition transactions. 
 
He also advises extensively to clients on mobile banking and payment solutions and is the Deloitte Financial Services Industries Innovation Leader.
 
Riaan is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and received a Diploma in Advanced Banking at the University of Johannesburg.  His focus industries include Banking, Insurance as well as Securities and Custody.

Riaan has co-ordinated a number of large projects to clients and has a proven track record of co-ordinating the firm’s service lines as well as co-operative arrangements with outside service providers in providing complimentary and focused solutions to clients.
