Johan Marais Director
Johan joined Mazars in 2012 as part of a merger of a group of partners and staff from Grant Thornton Cape Town.
Johan joined as a manager in the corporate finance division and was promoted to Director in 2017.
Johan completed his articles at Grant Thornton, Cape Town before going overseas on a one year secondment to Grant Thornton Auckland as a senior/supervisor.
Johan returned to South Africa taking up the position of Audit and Corporate Finance manager at Grant Thornton, Cape Town.
Johan's corporate finance experience includes three years managing the corporate finance department of Grant Thornton, Cape Town and has led the Mazars Corporate Finance department since 2016.
Johan has experience in valuations, due diligence and lead advisory services for listed and unlisted businesses. He has been involved in corporate finance transactions in the following sectors:
- Financial services
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Labour Brokers
- Property development
Johan also has extensive experience in performing cash flow analysis and projections for operational companies by means of financial modeling.

- Liberty Foods (food manufacturing)
- Rubicon Group (Industrial automation and electrical)
- MacroLan (Fibre deployment)
- Orphan Pharmaceutical (Pharmaceutical distributor)
- Novagroup (Marine safety, engineering, container depo's)
- Genop Holdings (Pharmaceutical)
Johan also performs intangible assets valuations, which includes listed clients such as:
