The Government Connect newsletter has been released by SARS

The Government Connect newsletter (issue 1) has been published and is a new monthly newsletter intended to improve communication with the government segment through regular updates. It will enable sharing of information on developments within SARS with the aim of empowering and supporting government to achieve and promote voluntary compliance.

The Government Connect Newsletter will be used to communicate the following:

  • Key, current issues in the tax landscape
  • Reminders of current and upcoming filing priorities
  • Updates on education programmes
  • Updates on SARS system changes, and
  • Introduction of new SARS products.

The first issue covers the following topics:

  • Extension of the filing season deadline
  • Updates to the dispute process and dispute resolution for PAYE penalties
  • Turn-around times for refunds and audits
  • Tips for submitting supporting documents via eFiling and the SARS MobiApp
  • How to update Registered Representatives
