Experience

Thinus is an International Partner at Mazars and is the National Head of Mining in South Africa. He specializes in external audit, with more than 12 years audit industry experience. During his career he has gained experience in the mining, agriculture, retail, investment and medical scheme industries with an extensive range of audit experience ranging from medium to listed entities. His experience also includes fulfilling the role of Engagement Quality Control Reviewer.

His experiences are not only limited to South Africa, as he has performed external audits for entities in Europe, South America, as well as more than 10 African countries. He has extensive international audit experience, including working on PCAOB, US GAAS, US GAAP, Canadian GAAS, Canadian GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley engagements.

His audit experience includes JSE-, NYE-and Canadian listed entities. He has spent 8 years at KPMG working in the Energy & Natural Resources Department as a mining audit specialist and joined Mazars in 2018 and is the Head of the Mazars Central Audit Department. He was also a SAICA Top35Under35 finalist for the year 2021.
