Larry Auret Consultant - Accounting & Independent Review

Larry joined Mazars in 2012 as part of a merger of a group of partners and staff from Grant Thornton Cape Town.

Experience

Larry obtained his CA (SA) in 1981, after completing his Batchelor of Accounting degree at the Stellenbosch University, and Certificate in the Theory of Accounting at the University of Cape Town.

Larry served his traineeship at Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young) and spent 2 years working as a manager in their audit division. 

In 1982 & 1983 he managed the Walvis Bay practice.  In 1984, Larry left Arthur Young & Co. and became a partner in an accounting and audit practice, Auret Van Wyk. 

In 1996, he decided to sell a major portion of this practice and started Bramble Lodge, a guesthouse and restaurant in George. He practised as a sole practitioner and together with his wife ran the guesthouse and restaurant. 

Larry joined Grant Thornton in 1999 and was appointed Partner in charge of Human Resources, together with managing an audit portfolio specialising in the tourism, hospitality and leisure industry.  He later headed up the Accounting division and was in charge of Marketing.

Larry is currently in the Business Services division of Mazars.  He specializes in trusts, business start-ups and consulting to foreign-owned companies and local businesses.

Leadership Roles

  • National President of the Association of Round Tables in Southern Africa in 1993/’94

Larry joined Mazars in August 2012. He specialises in business start-ups, general business consulting and consulting to foreign-owned companies.
