Ishan Bhowani Director - Mazars Advisory
Ishan is currently Director in the Public Sector and is based in the Johannesburg office.
Experience
Ishan has over 15 years of assurance experience. Prior to joining Mazars, he was the Chief Audit Executive (Designate) for Assurance and Forensic at Eskom Holdings SOC. He was accountable for Internal Audit, Technical Audit, Technical Investigations and Forensic Investigations for the organization and managed a department with a staff compliment of approximately 110 professionals. As part of his role, he was an official of the Board Audit and Risk Committee, EXCO and the Eskom Executive Tender Committee. His portfolio also included overseeing assurance over commercial spend in excess of R140 Billion.
Ishan has previously served on the Gauteng Regional Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), as well as the Technical Committee of the IIA, as has extensive knowledge of governance, risks and controls.
Experience includes enterprise-wide risk management, corporate governance, electricity pricing and the framework for Public Finance and Management Act (PFMA). He has led training of audit committees.
and previously involved in local and international benchmarks of internal audit processes. Ishan was responsible for the implementation for Combined Assurance at Eskom and was previous Chairman of Eskom Combined Assurance forum.
He has excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with senior managerial experience and experience at Board Committee level.
