Ewald van Heerden Partner
Ewald joined the National Quality & Risk Management Department of Mazars in March 2008. Prior to Mazars, Ewald worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc in Cape Town and Los Angeles from 2003 to 2008.
Ewald has extensive experience in auditing in various industries. His clients included large groups in retail, manufacturing and media, as well as a number of smaller owner-managed businesses in several industries.
In his final years at PWC he headed up the training department in the region and provided technical support and consultation in IFRS, with a focus on group accounting and financial instruments.
Ewald joined Mazars in 2008 as a member of the national quality & risk management department, focusing on audit technical support, as well as implementing internal risk management processes and controls. He is also involved in the steering group which designs and implements the global Mazars audit methodology which is designed to ensure that the firms comply with internationally accepted standards.
In addition to his involvement in internal risk management Ewald is involved in consulting on a number of topics including corporate governance, Companies Act compliance and integrated reporting.
In addition to the work at the firm, he has had extensive experience in academics, lecturing at various academic institutions on auditing, accounting and corporate law. He also has extensive experience on training on these topics, and has been involved in developing training material and presenting courses internationally for Mazars, and locally for Mazars, a number of clients, as well as the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
