Barries Ferreira Regional Leader - Garden Route

Barries Ferreira is a Registered Auditor and the Regional Leader of the Mazars in Garden Route practice.

Experience

He has a total of 27 years experience in audit, internal audit, general business consulting, accounting, preparation of financial statements and management accounts as well as individual and corporate tax planning including estate planning.

Mr Ferreira matriculated in 1990, obtained his BRek degree in 1993 and BCom Honours in 1994 at PU for CHE. He passed his Final Qualifying Exam in 1997 and received his certificates of membership to the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Public Accountants and Auditor’s Board (now IRBA) in 1998 on completion of his articles with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC).

During his articles with PwC he was a mentor in the PwC mentorship programme as well as a Chartered Accountant-mentor in the same programme. Mr Ferreira was involved in the internal audit of the Louis Trichardt Municipality, Thohoyandou Municipality, as well as the University of Limpopo.  He was further involved in the audit of the Polokwane Municipality as well as the University of Venda.  While living in Polokwane he was involved in performing certain agreed-upon procedures for the Auditor General in Limpopo and for the Limpopo Province.

During his early years in PwC, Mr Ferreira was seconded to their Jersey office where he was involved in the audits of financial institutions.

In 1999 Mr Ferreira was a part-time lecturer in Accounting 300 at the University of the North.

In 2000 Mr Ferreira passed the Association of Insolvency Practitioners’ of SA’s exam, and accordingly holds a diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice. He was also admitted to the Master’s Panel of Trustees and Liquidators in 2000.
