Due date for third party data submission: 31 October 2021

SARS has issued a reminder in respect of third party data bi-annual submissions for the period 1 March 2021 – 31 August 2021, which will close on 31 October 2021. SARS encourages submissions to be made ahead of the due date to avoid last minute challenges and potential delays.

Third parties (banks, medical schemes, fund administrators etc.) are required, by law, to send information or data to SARS via a return. This means that a bank, for example, must provide information to SARS pertaining to the interest paid on savings in a taxpayer’s accounts. Medical Schemes are also required to send information on the total contributions made by individuals, expenses not covered by the Medical Aid as well as the number of dependants.

As per our previous alert, which can be accessed here, the period for the submission of data relating to the 1 March 2021 – 31 August 2021 period by these parties, will close on 31 October 2021.

Given the limited number of days left before the deadline, a reminder was issued by SARS, encouraging submissions to be made ahead of the due date to avoid last minute challenges and potential delays.
