Experience

Helouise has over 20 years of experience in the auditing profession. She completed her articles at a big four firm. Prior to joining Mazars, Helouise led the audit technical team at a big four firm. She is highly skilled in supporting teams in the application of International Standards in Auditing, policies, and laws and regulations. She has provided coaching and technical support to a variety of large, complex listed group audit teams, developing a specialism in the financial services sector.

She has also supported the development, deployment and monitoring of firm methodology, audit software, data analysis tools and techniques and technical knowledge databases and guidance. She has experience in transitioning audits to a more digital approach and evolving the audit process to incorporate new technology and techniques. She was also seconded to the global office in London for 18 months to assist in the development of an audit methodology for applying data analysis techniques, as well as an audit approach for non complex entities at a big four firm.

She has served as a technical advisor to the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, as well as the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors Committee for Auditing Standards. She continues to serve as a member of the SAICA Examination Committee for the Initial Test of Competence and as a member of the Exco committee at Mazars in South Africa.

Helouise has extensive experience in risk and quality monitoring processes, internal and regulatory reviews and managing practice risk.

In addition to her risk and technical role, Helouise has experience in delivering audits for listed and non-listed clients and acting as an engagement quality reviewer of listed or high-risk audit engagements.

She holds a master’s degree in computer auditing (Cum Laude).
