Phil Minnaar, Senior Practice Reviewer at IRBA, joins Mazars
Mazars is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Minnaar as National Quality Control Director.
Prior to joining Mazars Phil was a Senior Practice Reviewer at IRBA (Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors) for four years. Here he primarily reviewed public interest audit engagements, testing compliance with International Standards of Auditing. With the introduction of firm reviews in 2006, he was also responsible for reviewing quality control policies and procedures of audit firms accredited with the JSE, evaluating compliance with the minimum requirements of international quality control standards (ISQC1) and IFAC code of ethics. As a result of his monitoring experience he presented several IRBA Practice Review workshops, providing a forum where the dynamics of the firm and engagement file reviews are explained, simultaneously responding to frequently asked questions and clarifying the objectives and benefits of monitoring reveiws in terms of the Auditing Professions Act and ISQC1.
Prior to this Phil was employed by the Auditor-General and PwC in Pretoria. Subsequent to his qualification as a chartered accountant in December 2000, he was a frequent member of the World Health Organisation and the United Nations audit team in Geneva, Switzerland. He further managed the audits of various subsidiaries of the Central Energy Fund, most notably the PetroSA group of companies (formerly known as Mossgas.)
Mazars is delighted to have Phil on board and we believe that his appointment illustrates our commitment to providing the highest level of service to our clients.
